Radical design change to make hand washing more accessible was
not enough to reduce nosocomial spread MRSA. Improved
hand washing was not enough to reduce MRSA infections.
Conclusion: One may conclude that contamination
preexists in the patient’s room.

Study shows “nosocomial pneumonia is not prevented by protective contact
isolation in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit.” Conclusion
was
that protective contact isolation with gowns and hand washing
was not superior to just hand washing and gloves alone in
the prevention of airway colonization and nosocomial pneumonia.
Conclusion:
One may conclude that contamination
preexists
in the patient’s ICU room.

Dust and residue was the leading cause of methicillin–resistant
staphylococcal aureus spread and is epidemic in hospitals.

Laryngoscope blades have been implicated in spread of pseudomonas
aerugensoa and methicillin-resistant staphylococcal aureus
infections in hospitals. It further states that all hospitals
need to
develop a broad and inclusive infection policy. This was particularly
true for anesthesia equipment.
