Founded in 2001 MarLin Medical develops and produces hygienic solutions to protect patients during surgery. Marlin’s Oral Suction Device Holder is designed to contain the Yankauer suction during surgery to prevent cross contamination and provide a more sanitary environment for both physicians and patients alike.

The late Dr. Homra worked as an Anesthesiologist for over twenty years, and noticed an alarming number of postoperative wound infections and pneumonias occurring in patients after surgery. Medical journals state that most of these infections are caused by MRSA. After learning that MRSA is colonized in the oral cavity, Dr. Homra felt exposure to these bacteria could be greatly improved by containing the Yankeur suction which houses these bacteria during use.

MarLin’s model 20010 Oral Suction Device Holder is designed to fight hospital infection and lower administrative costs due to the current problem of cross contamination of patients during surgery. There have been other oral suction device holders developed since Dr. Homra’s. However, when used by physicians; the MarLin manufactured product is the only one that is sturdy, versatile in positioning, and quiet in the OR. The MarLin Oral Suction Device Holder is a real solution to the real problem of infections spread in hospitals.

Did you know…

The CDC reports that approximately 2 million patients a year
acquire a hospital based infection of which 88,000 people die*

Postoperative infections cost hospitals, insurance companies,
and Medicare $5 billion dollars annually*

OSHA, the CDC, and Health Insurance companies are all under
pressure to find solution to the problem of infections in hospitals

There is not a current location in surgery to position the Yankauer
suction to contain patient’s secretions and protect them from
cross contamination

Hospital and OSHA guidelines require that all secretions are
contained during surgery, although the Yankauer suction
continues to be used haphazardly
